All aboard!

We're off tomorrow, so time to set up the blog:

Places we'll be visting are:
  • Edinburgh - food and castles
  • Glasgow - Charles Rennie Mackintosh and shipyards
  • Islay - friends, whisky and gin (and whisky, whisky, whisky)
  • Huddersfield - aunts, cousins and armour
  • Dedham - Constable and Secret Water
  • Cornwall - ancestors, pirates and my big bro
  • Bristol - friends and steamships
  • London - Stokie here we come
All will be revealed in time.

Tonight's excitement was a text from Air NZ to say our flight in the morning is cancelled! A phone determined that we've been rescheduled, but our booking hasn't been updated online, nor did we get a text informing us of the rebooking. So we have to take it on faith! Hopefully that will be the only hiccup on the way.

Here's a picture from our last trip to Islay just to inspire us all (and to make sure I know how to post a photo!):
Carraig Fhada lighthouse
Carraig Fhada lighthouse is very close to our cottage which is down by the shore in the same bay.

The next post will be in a few days from Edinburgh.

  1. Ok, found my way here. Had to look up where Islay is and recall it now. Seals on the South Coast if I remember rightly. Hope the weather is kind. Och Ay.

  2. When you're on your way from Edinburgh to Glasgow, do try to spot the Kelpies - huge metal horsehead statues pretty much right next to the motorway - and go to the Falkirk Wheel, a boat lift which is the only one of its kind in the world. Well worth a trip. Have a lovely time.
